Thank you for contacting Almost Home Rescue about fostering a rescue dog.

Almost Home Rescue dogs need to be kept inside and treated as a member of the family. Please be patient with our dogs. Most have come from situations where they have never known to depend on humans for love and comfort. While they crave this love and comfort, they may not know how to go about getting it. So many of our dogs have been abandoned or spent their lives as strays or chained or penned outside away from their human families, and have to learn how to behave as part of the family. All of our dogs are extremely grateful to have been given a second chance at life and deserve to live a life filled with love and happiness.

Almost Home Rescue is responsible for finding a home for the dog and the foster family must not place him in a home that has not been approved through AHR. We do appreciate all help you can give us to find an appropriate home. If you find a potential home, please have them fill out an online adoption form. While AHR will make every effort to help match you with a safe and nondestructive dog, they are living creatures and can be unpredictable, so we cannot be held responsible for any damage to either person or property caused by the foster dog.

Please monitor your spam folder as well as your inbox after submitting an application as responses from our foster coordinator may find their way there since they are coming from an unknown email address.

Responsibilities of the Foster Parent:

  1. Provide a safe, loving environment for the dog.

  2. Socialize the dog properly.

  3. Observe how the dog acts in different situations, and with different people and animals.

  4. Notify AHR of any concerns about health or behavior immediately. Dogs will be examined by a vet prior to arrival. Other vet care should be discussed w/AHR prior to assuming expenses.

The foster parent will have the first chance at adopting the dog if we are informed prior to receiving an adoption application. They will also offer input in the decision for the right new home.
